iShares Moves Listings of 2 ETFs

iShares will transfer the listings of 2 of the firm’s ETFs on September 23, 2008. Barclays Global Investors, the manager of iShares, will transfer the iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology Index Fund (IBB) from the American Stock Exchange to The NASDAQ Stock Market.

Global Hard Assets ETF Launches

Van Eck Global announced the listing of the Market Vectors-RVE Hard Assets Producers ETF (HAP). The new ETF tracks an index of 321 companies in 40 countries and 6 sectors that are engaged in the production and distribution of hard assets and related products and services.

Shipping Industry ETF Begins Trading

Claymore Securities announced the listing of the Claymore/Delta Global Shipping Index ETF (SEA) which invests in global shipping companies. SEA tracks a global portfolio of 30 maritime shipping stocks with a current combined market cap near $50 billion.

XShares Rationalizes HealthShares Line-Up

XShares Advisors announced a reorganization of its flagship family of HealthShares ETFs. XShares will close 15 of the 19 HealthShares ETFs due to a lack of investor interest. The last day of trading for the funds will be September 19, 2008.

Dollar Strength Helps Investors Betting Against Euro

The dollar continues to get stronger against the Euro as concerns about inflation and slowing growth have now spread across the Atlantic. Rydex’s Currency Shares Euro Trust (FXE), an ETF that tracks the Euro, has fallen dramatically since the beginning of August.

ETF Industry Assets Grow $3 Billion in July

According to a report issued by State Street Global Advisors, ETF Industry Assets ended July at $578 billion. Assets were up $3 billion despite a 0.84% decline in the S&P 500 for the month.
